Who just got a job today?? Well, that would be me. :-)
I got offered a position as a substitute teacher at the local middle school today.
It's so wonderful because literally a week ago I turned down an offer to work in a CDC and I was questioning if it was the right thing to do. I turned down the job because it was going to require me to go TDY and the hours of work ranged from 5:30 am to 6 pm and when I wouldn't be TDY on weekends, there was a possibility of working in the center on Saturdays. My husband gave me the best advice, "Just because you're amazing and got the first job that you interviewed for, doesn't mean you have to take it. There are plenty of other jobs out there."... So I didn't.
I didn't want to waste weekends away from my husband leading up to a possible deployment. I didn't want to work evenings that would not allow me to cook dinner or be home when my husband gets home. BUT, when I denied it, the lady I talked to heeded the warning that "it is EXTREMELY difficult to get a job in this community. It took me 5 months to get a job once I started looking." So I started to feel a little anxious that I should have just bit the bullet and started somewhere... Not anymore.
This is the foot in the door I was looking for. Originally I was thinking that I would need to start off as an Aide to gain experience before they hired me but it doesn't look that way anymore. I'm hoping that after I've been established within the middle school I can reach out to the elementary school and get in some hours there as well.
Who's a happy girl today?? THIS girl! :-)
