I am a "fan" on several military spouses pages on Facebook and every so often, this question comes up: "My husband/boyfriend/fiance is going off to bct/deployment/etc. and I don't know what to do or how to handle him being gone" The answer is always the same to every spouse... Keep Busy.
If you have children, especially at the age where they are home 24/7, this may be easier for you than the rest of the childless wives. So here are some suggestions.
Here are a couple of ideas to do just that. I've actually started doing some of these things since my husband has left for the field. Sitting around the house doing absolutely nothing is probably the worst thing that you can do.
Pick up a new hobby
Get a Job
Go back to school
Have a Girls' Night
Catch up on "to-do" lists
Read a good book
Get in shape/Start going to the gym/Exercise
Explore your surroundings
Watch a Marathon of your Favorite Show
Reorganize your House
Spend Quality Time with Friends and/or Family
Shopping (be careful how much you spend though!)
If you find yourself going a bit stir crazy, just do something from this list to help get your mind off things for awhile and get yourself out of the house.
